For the Shine Beauty Guru’s, this month was all about the hair!  I got to test the Braun Satin Hair brush with Active Ion Technology.  I was pumped.  Who can’t use new hair brush, plus when it says “satin hair” who wouldn’t be on board?  Let’s break it down.

The Braun Satin Hair brush boasts, “an active ion jet releases millions of active ions creating a halo around your hair. Active ions work very much like a conditioner. They instantly tame frizz and flying hair for touchable smoothness compared to brushes without Active Ion Technology.”

My first hair that used Ion technology was amazing for my hair….so I was hoping this would have the same kind of major change.  IT DOES!!  After the first brushing, you can immediately tell a difference.  My hair was softer and smoother than it is when I use a product.   For my hair, it isn’t a brush I can use multiple times a day.  It got too greasy, too fast.  BUT this brush is perfect for “finishing” your hair style.  If you want a sleek pony, use it.  A sleek hair down style, use it!   It wouldn’t be my first pick to actually fix my hairstyle.   It made it too slick!!  As the finishing touch it’s perfect, you get sleek and shiny hair instantly.  After a day with curled hair, I brushed through the curls with the Satin brush to make a sleek wavy look for night.  No frizzies either!!

I can also tell that it has helped the ends of my hair, which tend to break alot.  They feel stronger and healthier after using this brush for a month.  That’s because the brush is “anti-damaging with seamless bristle technology.   It helps prevent damage and damage to the scalp.”  It also turns itself off, so you don’t waste batteries!

This brush is definitely a winner for me. At a price of $65, it is more of an investment for sleek and shiny hair.  It would make a great gift to give or get….so add it to your Christmas list NOW!

Shine Beauty Guru Review: Gillette Venus Pro-Skin MoistureRich Razor

*As a Yahoo! Shine Beauty Guru, I get a beauty assignment each month that I also post here. To see this review on shine, visit here!*

This time around us Beauty Guru’s were sent Gillette Venus Proskin Moisture Rich Razors to test! Since it’s the start of summer, this razor couldn’t have come at a better time!

At first glance, the razor reminded me of the Schick Intuition razor.  (Remember? Jewel’s song of the same name was ALL over the commercials?)  I had that razor forever ago and didn’t like it.  But I was willing to give this one a chance with its “MoistureRich shave gel bars are enhanced with a triple blend of body butters, which create a layer of protection for your skin with every stroke” (fact sheet*). After all, I have other Venus brand razors and they are my favorite.

I’ve used this razor for the whole month of June and it’s amazing! The past few months I’ve had to shave my legs sitting on the side of the tub because shaving in the shower equaled nicks, cuts, and missed hairs!  Not with this razor. Shaving cream isn’t needed because of the built in moisture bars.  My shower time has been cut down by at least 15 minutes.

It is also fantastic for underarms and bikini areas.  I usually do not apply shaving cream to underarms because its messy and takes more time.  Thus, my underarms tend to be a little dry.  This razor allows for a clean, moisturized shave! Resulting in soft skin and shaving less often.

The thing I didn’t like about the Intuition razor was the bulkiness. This razor is anything but.  Its light weight and the “moisture bars” are small and LAST! I’ve used the current blade a number of times with no dullness and the bars are still doing their job!

I can say no bad things about it. It’s given me “goddess” legs all month long!

Shine Beauty Guru Review: SoftSoap Body Butter Strawberry Smoother

*As a Yahoo! Shine Beauty Guru, I get a beauty assignment each month that I also post here.*

In Texas, it has already hit the high 80′s so shorts, dresses, and smooth legs are a must!  And with that dry flaky skin is no beauty “do”!

Enter: SoftSoap Body Butter Strawberry Smoother. Which promises “this skin-pampering body buff wash contains juicy strawberry & jojoba butter extracts to help retain moisture, along with gentle exfoliators for smooth, sexy skin.”

As the change from winter to spring takes place, my skin gets extremely dry.  I’m always hesitant to use body wash that zaps my skin of moisture.  This body wash did the opposite.  It moisturized and exfoliates, just like it said.  I love when products actually do what they say.   After using the “smoother” for 2 weeks, my skin has stayed healthy.  I’ve had to use lotion.  The strawberry smell is only an added bonus.  Hubs has said numerous times, “You smell SO good!”

SoftSoap Body Butter Strawberry Smoother is a must for Spring! And between $3 to $5, it won’t hurt your budget!

Shine Beauty Guru Review: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara

*This product was given to me for free for testing and review*

Our latest product to test was Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara, whew, that’s a mouthful!! So does it do all the things that are in its title?

Yes.

Simple as that. Let’s break it down.

Extreme: This mascara adds lots of length. I have short stubby lashes and they look nothing like my normal lashes. I love it!

Multiplying Volume: Talk about a fan of lashes. There is NO clumping here! Two coats of this and you’re good to go! It makes my thin lashes look full and thick.

This is some of the best mascara I’ve had in the last two years. The long wand allows careful application. ( I tend to be one of those appliers that gets it on my nose. But not with this stuff!) Plus, it lasts all day! From 7 am to 10pm, my lashes were full and my eyes looked bright.

The only downside is it takes careful application! Why?!? If application is rushed and you don’t allow sufficient drying time inbetween coats and the final application, a small blink will get little black lines on top and bottom of lids. Even with that in mind,, this mascara is going on my beauty must-list!
The $23.50 price tag is worth it. To find out more about it, visit here!

Sex and the City 2: Carrie–Where are you

Friday was my day off.  And I spent the afternoon wathing Sex and the City 2 for the first time.  I must say, I was extremely disappointed!

Here are my reasons:

1. The story line is just a little too unbelievable.  The Middle East with all expenses paid?!  Why did they even have to stick the SATC brand to this movie.  Its not worthy!

2.  Carrie’s wardrobe.  While beatiful, it was completely unfitting.  To go to the market in the Middle East she wears an “J’adore Dior” t-shirt and a lavender hoop skirt. I don’t care if its designer.  She looked stupid.  Heels in the sand?  I get the head wraps, bright colors etc.  But it was just too much.

3.  Some bad acting and even worse writing.  “interfriendtion” “Lawrence of my Labia”  Who wrote this shiz?? I am Woman karoke.  *sigh*  Its just too much!

4.  Carrie in general.  Her hair is flat, frizzy, and beyond.  Most of all, SJP looks too skinny, almost emaciated. I was afraid she’d break a bone in those sky high heels!  Its just not the fabulous Carrie I know and love.  I miss you, where are you?

Did you watch SATC 2?  What did you think? Were you disappointed or in love?

Now excuse me while I go watch SATC the show on DVD and relive the original Sex and the City magic!
