Not Quite How I Thought It Was Outfit Post

I wore this yesterday.  I didn’t turn out how I wanted.  In theory, it was a great outfit.  But I just wasn’t comfortable….Maybe because I felt self-conscious because of my white pasty legs or because the skirt was shorter/tighter than I’ve worn or because I really wanted to wear loafers and tights or because it was 85 degrees outside….lots of reasons I didn’t feel quite comfortable.

Obviously, this is my front porch and obviously, we decorated for Halloween.

I really need to find a new location but I’m too embarrassed for someone to see me.  Can someone just tell me to suck it up and take some decent photos? Oh, and Lela decided to come help me pose.  She looks like a little rat, but I promise she’s adorable.

Today’s temperatures are in the 60′s!! I’m bringing out the flare jeans! I’m pumped!

Vixen Hair, Lips and Hips

So it has nothing to do with hips, but it sounded good right? On with the clothes! I wore this on Sunday to The Texas Shakespeare Festival‘s Play “The Beuax Stratagem” which was hilariously funny.  Of course, I forgot not only our nice camera but my point and shoot.  So cell phone it was! I think the turned out pretty well considering..

I got to wear this dress once last summer.  It was a late September buy from Forever 21.  When I spotted it, I had to have it.  Why?  Because a few weeks before I spotted the same dress at an F21 with CK.  There was only one! And it fit both of us.  It looked better on her so she got it.  And I forgot about it.  Until I was in a different Forever 21 in a different city and spotted it.  Now it is mine and I’m in love!  It’s just got so many little quirks.  The zipper, the faded flower design, the ruffle.

I spent more time on doing my hair than I did on getting dressed/makeup.  I curled it and styled in Victory Rolls.  Originally, it seemed so easy from videos, but it wasn’t.  Took me quite a while to get it to this state then I stuck in the accessory clips to cover up some of the messiness.  I was thrilled with the end effect.

The Back.

Pardon my horrible transition of hair color.  I’m eventually going to tell you all about my ombre hair journey! Stay tuned…

I left my makeup very simple (plus I ran out of time!)  I only applied foundation, blush, bronzer, mascara, and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Pop Life.  Have to say I felt very vixenish with the curled hair and red lips!  It’ll be a look I try again soon, maybe with a more vintage dress!

The colors got me! I want every piece of it! Kendi always has such beautiful taste but this one bowled me over and I fell in LOVE with this necklace! So much so that when I saw this similar one on Suze from Miss Vinyl Ahoy..I had to find this similar version in Kendi’s color!   Say hello to Kie & Kate Couture and my new birthday present!

Here’s my version of Kendi’s outfit!  Trying to combine the same colors.

The funny thing is, this was one of the easiest/comfiest outfits to put together.  Throw on the dress, the necklace and shoes! Voila! This lovely coral-y red dress was a steal last week at Forever 21 on our trip to Houston! I loved the color but the clincher was the pretty back! It has such a vintage feel to it, and I couldn’t have felt more girly today!

These are some of the best “Kendi” poses I could manage!

Minds can be changed to the MAXI!

I’ve had a love/hate/hate relationship with maxi dresses for the past two years! But that was two years ago and the things won’t go away and my opinion has changed over time.  They look really good on other people, but for myself not so much…..

…..until now.  I’ve tried on a few variations, colors, etc and hated them.  Then I found fabric at my local Hancocks (fabric store).  It was already the perfect length, already had a smocked top, and was in a pattern I adore.

I pinned and started to sew my first dress ever!  Might be the easiest sewing ever!

Say hello to my creation! And my new hat! (it only took about 25 try ons to find the right one!)

Dress: Sewn

Sandals: Target

Hat: PacSun

Bracelets: Mix of Vintage and Gifted

Necklaces: Pacsun

I also bought another piece of shorter fabric for a short dress…coming soon!

P.S.  The right maxi dress can work!
