It’s only my new favorite beauty go to site! I stumbled upon some of their great tutorials through pinterest and tracked the sources down to The Beauty Department.  From makeup tips to hair how to’s, they have you covered.  And its not random, untrusted names!

Here’s the low down:

“This is a site for anyone who’s ever had a beauty question or gotten into a fight with a hair brush and lost. We’ll be covering all kinds of hair+makeup how-to’s, nail trends, skin issues, tools, current obsessions & inspirations, as well as countless quick tips. In the process we are truly excited to get to know all of you! We want  to read your emails and we want you to participate in our voting polls so we can figure out exactly what you need! We want to make beauty as accessible as possible. We’re releasing new things every day including videos, printable photo tutorials and exclusive images of our lovely Lauren Conrad.

XO Lauren Conrad, Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine!”

You read that right! LAUREN CONRAD.  She’s a personal favorite celeb of mine and now she’s using her celebrity power in the name of beauty! She teamed up with her professional hair  stylist (Kristen Ess) and makeup artist (Amy Nadine) to for The Beauty Department.   So it is sources you can actually trust with insider knowledge!

They post every day and they include such fun stuff as:

They’ve got video makeup and hair tutorials to die for! The latest…the french braid!  I also learned how to do a fishtail braid from their tutorials!  Easy to understand and great to watch it done.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve paused, rewound, and rewatched quite a few of these videos!

I have to say I can’t get enough of this site. I scroll through tutorials quite often to find inspiration and even their tweets with beauty tidbits are awesome!

If you haven’t had a chance to see The Beauty Department before, take a moment now. It’ll be worth it!

*this post is just full out love for TBD! No funny business…just good pure adoration*

Also, all photos are from The Beauty Department.

Color Change. Subtle but Grand!

I dyed my hair yesterday.  It needed it!  Its been since November.  But the thing is, I’m trying to grow my hair out to my natural color.  So when I dye it, I apply from the natural dye line.  I’ve got a nice subtle, not too noticeable Ombre look going on.  I’m pretty pleased with it.  I think I’ve finally found a color that looks good on me.  Perfect 10 shade 7 Dark Blonde “Butterscotch Boom”  (hair companies come up with the stupidest names for color!)   This morning I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Lauren Conrad dyed her hair a tad darker!

While Perez calls her hair brunette, its not.  Its dark blonde.  My hair is almost this exact shade!  And last night it looks almost exactly like this.  I would have show you last night’s look for a friend’s wedding, but alas.  We didn’t take one single picture! Boo!

Major blogger fail! Here’s a weak look at the new shade:

t looks much better when actually fixed, no snow reflection and not hidden under a hat. It snowed today, which is HIGHLY unusual for East Texas…ever.  But at least you can get an idea.

P.S.  The outfit posts this week were actually taken LAST week. Thus..different hair.  It looks SO much better now!

What is an FFU? And all the dangers

Ok so, I’m a huge Lauren Conrad fan! *Team Lauren*  I’ve read both of her fictional novels, and can’t wait to read the third in the series, Sugar and Spice, and also her new style book, Lauren Conrad Style.  I’m heading to Barnes and Nobles, this afternoon possibly.  So when I ran across this hilarious video I had to share.  Listen as Lauren explains the awful truth about FFU’s.
