Fall Lust: Colored Denim

Fall is just around the corner and fall fashion is out on the racks!  One of the biggest things I’m lusting after is colored skinny denim!  J Brand Jeans has one of the prettiest selection of colors!

My favorite hues are the red and purple!!  Some of my favorite celebs have been sporting these shades!

Completely extreme looks for Purple Jeans! How chic and easy is Nicky Hilton’s look!

Red jeans look casual and comfy!  Are you brave enough to color block like SJP?

I’m currently on the hunt for Purple and Red that fits my body and budget best!  Through a little searching on polyvore and google, you can find colored denim from $23 or $190

Miss Sixty tapered pants, $80, Pink skinny jeans, $24, Cheap Monday straight leg jeans, $45, J Brand skinny leg jeans, $176, American apparel, $74, J Brand skinny leg jeans, $176

As you know, you’ll get what you pay for!  If you’re looking to wear this trend for one season, you might wanna spend less.  If you want to make them a new basic in your closet,  a more expensive and better quality pair might be perfect for you.  It is all personal choice!

Just like the celebrities I’m ready to dress these jeans up and down!

Pair them with solid color tops.

Black, white, grey or tan tops with heels instantly make these jeans look chic.  Nicky Hilton’s look above is the perfect example!  Or you can be brave and throw on another color like SJP.

Add a pattern!

A top with stripes, plaids, or dots equals a great pairing.

Layer for your event.

Are you heading out to a fun party or just running errands?  A sheer blouse screams night time, whereas layers or a chunky sweater is perfect for daytime.  Always looking smart and trendy!

Are you down with the colored denim trend?  Where did you get your pair?

P.S. Celebrity photos were found through a Google Image Search.

I have no good name for this post.

This post is late late late. But its here and I have no good name for it.  My creative juices are tapped out.  With a stuffy nose and a cough to go with it, bed and nyquil are calling my name.

Truth be told, I loved this outfit.  It still amazes how simple items put together can make a statement.  Notice again, we are indoors.  Too cold outside and it got too late by the time we took these. Which was another mistake.  I haven’t felt the greatest the last few days so by the time I get home I want to relax and do nothing.  By the time these pictures got to the computer, I was beyond frustrated that out of 58 pictures taken (hubs believes in taking extras.) I got 5 decent ones, and here they are:

Jacket: Light Denim Jacket from Old Navy
Shirt: White Pocket Tee from Target
Jeans: JBrand Black Legging
Boots: OTK Fold Over Black Boots by Chinese Laundry

Jewelry:
Earrings: Black Stone Studs
Necklace: Multi Bead Silver/Black Necklace
Bracelet: Dotted Silver Bangle from H&M

I don’t even know that this face is supposed to be. Perhaps the beginning of my disgust? All I do know is I hate taking indoor pictures.

Also you might notice, that I’m a day or so behind. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles I was trying to keep up with the month of February, but days off and not feeling good=sweat pants and tees.  30×30 doesn’t have a set of official rules, so by gum, you’ll see 30 outfits.  Don’t you worry your pretty little head.

So ends day 8…

Fashion Night Out, my way.

Last Friday was Fashion Night Out in New York.  So I celebrated/supported from far away. To dinner,  I wore my 2009 FNO shirt, jazzed up of course.  I decided to be brave and try another outfit post.  Hubs was nice enought to take a few pictures. I was awkward and stiff but tried to remember the great tips in Grit & Glamour’s article. Here’s what I ended up with:

My fno shirt was too big.  So I belted it with a black skinny belt and pulled it over to hang.  I pinned both sleeves, one under to become sleeveless, the other pinched together then tied with a black sheer ribbon.  (I accidentally left my cell phone in my pocket, whoops!)

I paired it with Bull Head skinny jeans and F21 mary jane heels.  The only  jewelry was turquoise flower earrings (F21). And I couldn’t resist red lips.

Quick Style Guide: Dealing with a “Not-So-Fall” Fall

I’m tired of the heat. Sick and tired of it.  For the last few weeks, the average temperature has been 100 degrees.  While usually the temps may begin to drop in other states, around here it’s gonna stay hot.   See, we don’t really get a fall.  (Two Thanksgivings ago, it was 75 degrees)  We get hotness that one day finally really drops to cold.  This eliminates any chance to wear cute Fall clothes! *tears*  And I’m ready to wear sweaters, jackets, tights, and boots!  So, how do you accomplish this in such a warm “fall”? Transition carefully!  Let’s break it down in this Quick Style Guide:

Pants:

I’ve lived in skirts/dresses and shorts for the past 2 ½ months.  And I’ve loved it, but I’m ready to pull on some pants now. To make it feel more like the fall that it should be slip on a pair of jeans. Just like jean shorts, you can wear practically anything with your jeans.  Choose a dark wash to accent the wonderful fall shades.   If you’re not quite ready to cover up those ankles, roll your jeans up.  Voila! Pegged jeans! The perfect in between!

Jackets/Cardis:

Oh, how I love fall jackets! Trench coats are nothing I could ever wear around here in the fall only in winter. If you’re in the same boat, look for short sleeve jackets with lots of style.  I.E. Cute cuts, Interesting fabrics, Bold colors, Unique hardware/embellishments, or Distinctive collar.  Play it up! Have fun with it! You’ll be able to pull out that boyfriend blazer soon enough! (I’m dying to wear mine!)  Wear them with skirts and dresses for a different twist. Suggesstion: look for lighter weight fabrics!  NO wool or tweed, too hot! Cardis have pretty much the same rules! Lightweight fabrics, pretty details, perfect!

Shirts:

You wanna wear long sleeves, but think you’ll pass out if you do? On a little bit cooler day, pair a long sleeve(pushed up) or ¾ length sleeve shirt with your shorts. The effect is always cute, and still keeps you cool! Also, chose lightweight fabrics or sheer! Put a cami on under a sheer shirt/blouse for cool fall look!

Shoes:

Boots oh how I love you! How I can’t wait to wear tights with you.  But now, you make my feet/legs hot. Same for you, eh?  For an easier transistion, try booties, or ankle boots! Not quite as tall on your calf, and not nearly as hot!  Or try on a pair of oxfords! You’d be amazed how cute and trendy they really are!

And it just so happens that today, I’m wearing jeans and a short sleeve jacket, since it’s a nice cooler 90 degrees.  Compared to the 120 degrees on black concrete, today’s temperature feels like the beginning of fall!

What are your summer-to-fall transition pieces?
