Quick Style Guide: Chic Jackets

Cooler weather is finally here and that means jackets are finally needed. What says more about your outfit than the topper.  A jacket is one of the easiest ways to be chic with little to no effort.  Meaning if you’re running to the grocery store, to pick up the kids, or just a bunch of errands, you’re probably not going to take off your jacket/coat.  Throw on one that’s sassy enough and you’re done.  Wear it with whatever, no one will notice cause your jacket is so cute!

So drop the North Face, the Adidas and the puffer and let’s find so chic ones!

Lighter Weight Jackets

I prefer alot of light weight jackets because it doesn’t get really frigid here.  Thus, jersey/knit jackets are some of my faves!

I actually own this blue one on the right and wear it all the time. It is so easy to throw on and look instantly put together! No assembly required!

Coats

Can you see a theme here?

Choose a vibrant color.

Try a print. (animal, plaid, stripes, houndstooth)

Pick something that’s got detailing.  (double breasted, outside pockets, nipped in at the waist, piping)

Choose fun buttons. (latches, large circles, square, or big gold ones)

See how easy it is to throw on a cute jacket and look great?  What does your winter jacket/coat look like?

And just for fun….check out this awesome cape that P.S. I Made This actually MADE!

This is on my blog to do list, hopefully you’ll be seeing it soon!  Here’s the link!

Not Quite How I Thought It Was Outfit Post

I wore this yesterday.  I didn’t turn out how I wanted.  In theory, it was a great outfit.  But I just wasn’t comfortable….Maybe because I felt self-conscious because of my white pasty legs or because the skirt was shorter/tighter than I’ve worn or because I really wanted to wear loafers and tights or because it was 85 degrees outside….lots of reasons I didn’t feel quite comfortable.

Obviously, this is my front porch and obviously, we decorated for Halloween.

I really need to find a new location but I’m too embarrassed for someone to see me.  Can someone just tell me to suck it up and take some decent photos? Oh, and Lela decided to come help me pose.  She looks like a little rat, but I promise she’s adorable.

Today’s temperatures are in the 60′s!! I’m bringing out the flare jeans! I’m pumped!

Outfit of the Day: Mad for Plaid

I’m ready for fall! Like, now.  The past few days have felt like a little teaser for fall.  It’s been in the 80′s.  Around here that’s AMAZING! I have fought the urge to put on boots and a jacket by putting on a long sleeve shirt and slip ons instead.

I was really hesitant to put on these flat/boatish shoes with this outfit because it is not what I’m used to wearing.   But I’m glad I stepped out of the box cause my feet sure were comfy.

The black “skirt” is actually a dress.  I used the handy blogger trick of tying a shirt over a dress to achieve the look I wanted. Which was to NOT look like a farmer!

My hair is a combination of  what I call a bloggers bun (where they pile it high on the head) and the Michael Kors Runway: Knot Bun I shared with you a few weeks back! It was easy and still chic!

No Buy July: Days 21-25

There are only 6 more days in this month! Only six more days till No Buy July is over! I can’t believe it!   Except those last 6 days will be the hardest!!

Days 21 through 15 weren’t really bad at all.  I didn’t really go anywhere except Walmart to buy groceries.  Thus, no temptation!

Last time I did mention that I might make a minor adjustment.  Well, no more.  I mentioned it to Mr. T and he said, “NO WAY, JOSE!”   Ok, maybe I embellished that.   Anyway, to sum up his little speech.  He said he was proud of me for the whole project and wouldn’t let me quit now.  Then he offered to buy me a like 2 items for me when we go to the mall. And I couldn’t be a mean wife and turn down his offer.  Even though, I then squealed with joy! SW, are you reading this? WE MUST GO TO FOREVER 21! MUST!

These 5 days weren’t much to talk about.  Except I really am thinking of turning NO BUY into a quarterly “public” project.  I haven’t quite worked out all the details; I’m thinking of maybe September or October would be the first project. Sound good?  If you are interested, please fill out the form below.

SIX MORE DAYS!!
