No Buy July: Days 11-15

Half of the month is OVER!

I’ve made it 1/2 way and I can’t really believe it! Here’s the scoop:

I’ve realized how much I really do spend on extra stuff.  Oh a nail polish here, a headband there, and tee shirt over that way.  It doesn’t seem like much at the time, but when you add it up.  It really adds up!  I mean I saved myself $10 bucks this week, at least.  Biggest Accomplishment: I went to Target, bought something I didn’t need, marched from the register to the return desk and took it back. It really makes you rethink your..er my money! In the mean time, I’m getting a lot more done! I’ve had a stack of old magazines in a box in the closet for no reason.  This past week, I’ve gone through ripping out my favorite articles and inspirations.  I plan to recycle them all when I’m done.  I’ve also planned out our whole Christmas list!  Yes, Christmas!  It’ll be a good and affordable one!  Cheers to being 1/2 way through!

What are you wearing today? Xmas Eve Eve Edition

Let’s play a Christmas Eve EVE edition of , What are you wearing today?

desperately_seeking_susan_twoMe:

I have a few more hours left of work and had to dress up a bit today, but decided to make it fun.  I’m channeling a little bit of the 80′s .  I have on an Old Navy  blue jean jacket (with sleeves rolled up) with a black tank underneath with a Target silvery/grey and cream polka-dotted skirt that has tulle peeking out the bottom with Cato black suede booties. My bangs are in a pouf with my hair in a low side pony.  I have on 2 necklaces of pearl/metal combo, one knotted, one double looped with minimal makeup and red lips!  See, ’80s !

You:  What are you wearing today??

Merry Christmas, everyone! Have a great  4 day weekend! I’ll be back next week!

Christmas Wardrobe-quick and easy!

Is anyone else stumped what to wear on Christmas?  I am! Going to multiple families, cooking, eating, standing, sitting, opening presents=  the need for a breathable, comfy outfit. Here’s the breakdown:

Wants:

  • Look festive (without wearing anything tacky)
  • Look cute (duh!)
  • Look put together (not like I just woke up and/or sloppy)
  • Be Comfortable (playing with little kids, I need to be able to be on the floor)

 Needs:

  • To be warm (for possible outside activities)
  • Comfy (no stiff fabrics allowed)
  • Not tight fitting (allows room for stomach to expand)
  • Covers all essential parts (no butt/boob cleavage in front of relatives)
  • Appropriate dress code (no under/over dressing, makes for awkwardness)

I’m not going to buy anything new, since I need to buy a few last minute gifts, plus it is more fun to buy for others anyway.

So let’s do a little shopping of our closets this week.

My favorite inventory includes comfy sweaters, and cardigans, which are perfect for Christmas visiting.  The needs are all easy and pretty much no brainers, though dress code can be kind of tricky.  Visit here or here for a great break down of dress codes for MEN and WOMEN!

 Let’s  tackle these wants:

#1        Look festive-This can be done with out being tacky. (Avoid appliquéd or cartoonish sweaters with any kind of Christmas “theme”). Stick to jewel tones colors (including red and green), embellished tops/or sweaters (examples below), and patterned jackets/blouses.

#2        Look cute- this can be accomplished by anything you wear.  Just add a smile!

#3        Look put together- easy peasy! At least, brush your hair, brush your teeth, and wash your face. If you don’t want to put on full makeup: swipe on a little mascara or lip-gloss. This will prevent looking like you just rolled out of bed.

#4        Be comfortable- Traveling, eating, playing with kids all requires comfy clothes. Stick with stretchy fabrics that are not extremely fitted.  Tunic/Dress, Leggings, and flat boots stand out most in my closet for this type of comfort.  Also, stretchy jeans, supportive flats, and warm/ adaptable cardigans and jackets work well with comfort..

And of course accessorize to your own liking! Send me pics of your best Christmas outfit to Michelle at fierce_glamour@yahoo.com

Christmas Honesty

The shopping season is in full swing as people rush to find the perfect gifts, and hope to receive the perfect gift.  TV Commercials are ripe with deals and sales. My favorites has been the Target ads, with the little girl who confesses all her bad behavior when she thinks her parents spent too much and her utter shock, when they reveal they haven’t.

In that spirit, here’s a little of my Christmas honesty: I’ve done most of my woman-with-giftshopping but still have a few people that are just difficult to buy for.  And I fear that I’m becoming a difficult person on other people’s lists.

The Reason: I don’t ask for clothes, shoes, purses, etc. from others because I’m so damn picky.  Last year, I wanted a pair of black boots from BF.  I wouldn’t let him pick them out, nor did he want to because he knew I would be so particular.  Of course, I knew the whole time what I was getting but I was ok with that because I knew they were perfect.  (After all, I did pick them out!)

This isn’t to say I’m not grateful!! No one has to give a gift and just the thought alone is meaningful. But I would never intentionally ask for anything fashion related because I am so picky and would never want someone to think I didn’t like their gift.  I don’t like hurting people’s feelings! *frown*  When people do give me those things, I usually end up loving them (example: My aunt got me a cardigan last year that has be come one of my go-to cardis this year!) But I would rather not even take the risk of (a) not liking it [me being picky!] or (b) disappointing someone.

So, I’ll stick to asking for movies, music, and tech gifts instead, which I know I’ll love! That way no one has to be shocked when opening gifts.

Do you have a Christmas confession? Spill away dears!

Oh, and in case you haven’t seen it here’s the hilarious Christmas morning confession Target ad!
