Two years ago, I started this series. (Well, starting now it is a series!)  Things you are thankful for about yourself. Not your inside, your outside.

:::Thankful Thoughts:::

What I Love About Myself

1.  I love my hair.

As I grow it out to a long length and also grow out my natural hair color, it is getting shinier and healthier.  Whether it is curled or straightened, I’m finding it is one of my best assets!

2.  I like my waist.

With belted dresses, high waisted skirts, or fitted shirts, I’m finding that my waist is the skinniest part of me.  Duh, right?  When I cinch clothes in at my waist, I can see my curves and it’s been nice to discover I have curves. Small or big as they might be, I like that my body seems in enough proportion with my height.

3. I like my fingernails.

They are nicely shaped, the right thickness and grow fast. I’m able to paint and repaint without much damage.  Plus, they look really good painted or unpainted.

4.  I like my small feet.

I can wear anything from a girl’s size 4 to a women’s size 6.  (Sometimes backfires, most designer sizes start at 6).  Also, usually smaller sizes aren’t the first to sell out.  I’m able to find the shoes I like even in the most popular styles.

5. I like my brown eyes.

I was the little girl that longed for baby blues.  LONGED! I even tried turquoise contacts. (They don’t work, I couldn’t see out of them! It defeated the purpose!)  As I’ve gotten older (the wise ole’ age of 25<–this is sarcasm.), I love my brown eyes.   And since the application of winged eyeliner, I think they are emphasized more and it just makes me look prettier.  Such a small move has made me love them and myself more.

There you have it. Five things I love about myself. What do you love about yourself?  Leave your comment or link below! I hope you have thankful thougths about yourself today and a very…

Happy Thanksgiving

FBFF Questions for 2.18 – Body Image

Talk about a hard topic….but let’s get some answers…

1. Since you started blogging has your image of yourself changed?

It changes everyday…still.  Overall, its gotten spectacularly better.  A) I’ve realized certain things about my body.  My hips, shoulders, and rib cage will not shrink.  So if clothes don’t fit those areas,  they aren’t for me.  B) I’ve learned how to dress for my body.  Belts, High Waisted skirts, and empire waists are my friends.

2. Are you self-conscious about any aspect of yourself? If so, do you
go out of your way to avoid it or do you post it/talk about it anyway?

Who isn’t self conscious about something? Since I’m only recently getting into outfit posts I do not avoid posting about or making a big deal about it.  But I am fully open to talking about those parts at some point.

3. Based on how you are feeling now, what do you think the future
holds in the evolution of your body image?

I hope that it keeps getting better.  While I’m still aware I need to eat better and exercise more, I’m happy with my weight, my size, and myself.  As more curvy girls hit the runway, sticks and no eating will hopefully all but disappear.

4. Do you photograph yourself for your blog? If so, how do you feel
about the experience when you’re having your picture taken? If you
choose not to post pictures of yourself, what prompted that decision?

I do post pictures, especially for 30×30.  I haven’t been posting for all that long.  I don’t love the picture taking.  I have a lot more fun with it when someone else takes my pictures.  If I do it myself I’m extremely self conscious.  I’ve only skipped posting an outfit once and its because it coincided with the beginning of 30×30 and so I just forgot it.  I do however only choose the ones that are the most flattering of that days.  Not confident in my quality to post outtakes yet.

5. What would you want every person who struggles with body image to
take to heart?

No one or body is perfect. And no one else has your body! With that thought, do not compare yourself to others.  No one matches.  Focus on keeping your self healthy and happy, your body with reap the rewards, inside and out!!

5 Thankful Thoughts About Your Body Image

Thanksgiving is just a few days away loves.  And now is the time to name what we are thankful for!  I have plenty to be thankful for,  and I’m not gonna bore you with all, but I will share with you 5 things.

But first, let’s face it! American women have horrible body image’s!  Unless you’re a Victoria Secret model, you don’t think you’re perfect.  9 times out of 10 that I look in a mirror, I think something negative about myself.  Someone gives me a compliment, including my mom and boyfriend, and I roll my eyes, shake my head, or respond with a negative comment.  I know I’m not alone.   Every girl I know thinks she could lose a couple pounds, get that nose fixed, dye that hair, and more.  Here’s the reality.  Every woman/girl is beautiful.  There is something pretty abouty you!  You just ignore it or don’t even know it.  So the rest of this week, I’m ditching the negative thoughts and self-degrading comments! I  will be thankful for what I am on the outside.  I challenge you to do the same!

5 Thankful Thoughts on My Body Image

fall_beauty_smaller5.  I am thankful for my toned calves.  Which I didn’t even realize I had till my boyfriend mentioned it.  I guess wearing heels 4 out of 7 days a week, does more than just make me feel tall.

4.  I am thankful that when I change out of my oversize PJ’s in the morning, I feel skinny in my clothes for the day.  Stupid mind trick that works!

3.  I am thankul for my brown/slightly discolored eyes.  Because growing up, I wanted baby blues , and now I appreciate that my eyes make me unique.

2.  I am thankful for my freckles.  I have them on the bridge of my nose, on my elbows, and on my knees.  I used to do everything I could to hide them, now I think they are kinda cute.

1.  I am thankful for my body shape…waist, hips, etc.  Its not perfect, and I can’t really change it, (my hip bones aren’t gonna shrink!)  But learning to dress for my shape and accentuate the positive makes dressing fun again!

There are my 5 things that I am thankful for about myself.
