Love My Links: Hair, Shoes, Clothes…It’s all I need

Here are some of my favorite links from this week!

Lauren Conrad’s “Chelsea Lately” Messy Braid-You won’t believe how easy this really is.  It is my hair style TODAY!!  The braid turned out so chic.

What I Wore’s “You’ll Never Guess Where I Got These”-People seemed shocked you can get cute shoes at Payless.  They need to pull their heads out of their butts. The orange pair is to die for!  Maybe for Texas Style Council?

Glamour’s “Jason Wu for Target”- It launches Feb. 5th and I plan to be at the doors early! I’m thinking it won’t be quite as big as Missoni, since it is not as well published on tv and since it is not such a huge collection.  At the least, that pleated skirt has my name on it.

Enjoy all this prettiness and I hope you all have a great weekend loves!!

All photos are from their articles.

Also….

Congratulations to Sherry, Frances, and Malvina!

They all won in the grown up bow giveaway.  Ladies, please email me (fierce_glamour(at)yahoo (dot) com) with your info.

The Grown Up Bow, a DIY

Remember last week’s wedding wear inspiration?  The wedding has come and gone. And of course, leave it to me to STILL not have pictures on the blog for it…the What I Wore post is coming soon….But in preparation for the wedding, I made an accessory to go with my dress. A bow.  Yes, a bow.

This isn’t your daughters bow.

It’s the grown up bow.

No, ruffles, no buttons, no frills. Simple and sophisticated.

I was inspired by this picture from pinterest.  I love how loose, flowy, and sexy her hair is but its still dressy with the bow.  I didn’t have time to traipse all over God’s green earth to find a bow. So, I made one.

I ran to hobby lobby to buy flat alligator hair clips, and 1 1/2″ thick black satin ribbon. (total cost was around $4, my ribbon was 50% off) I also used a glue gun.

  • First, I cut one long strand of ribbon.  I guesstimate about 12 inches.
  • From here, form the ribbon into a loop.  Adjust the loop smaller or bigger, depending on how far you want it too stick out on the sides of your head. Then hot glue the ends of your loop together.
  • Find the middle of your loop and pinch this together with the ends.  You now have a “bow” form.   Glue this together.
  • Cut another piece of ribbon about 3″ long.  Center your “bow” in the middle of the 3″ ribbon.  Fold the sides of the 3″ section over and glue.  Voila! you have made the bow!
  • Center your bow on the alligator clip and hot glue. DONE!

Your end result will look like above!  I have no source for this tutorial since I just looked at the other picture and free-handed crafted it.

Here’s what it looked like when I was all fixed up. It had JUST the effect I wanted! Sophisticated, but sexy.  and yes, I took a picture of the picture on my camera…..

Good news for you…

I’ve decided to give 3 of these beautiful bows AWAY!!

Just leave a comment below, on my facebook page, or on twitter telling me how you would wear it.  There will be one winner from each.  Giveaway ends January 31st! GOOD LUCK!

Product Review: Tru Luxe Jeans

As I sit here, I have the window open letting in a nice 63 degree breeze! Yes, folks, fall may just have arrived….at least is visiting for a few days!   That means it is time to wear jeans!!

My Tru Luxe jeans  arrived just in time!!  They sent me two pairs to try out: the Florence Boot Cut (Mid-Rise / Boot cut / Dark Wash) and the Moscow Skinny Leg (Mid-Rise / Skinny Leg / Dark Wash)

I wore the skinny jeans to work where I was up and down and all around, that way I could really test them.  They passed with flying colors!  Not only were they comfortable, they stretched when needed but went back to the original shape!  The higher rise waist was a change but a welcome one.  I loved that in the back I never had that awkward panicked bent over moment of, “OMG, my jeans just exposed my whole backside!”  They rest high enough for comfort and decency! The comfort factor was the biggest plus! There is nothing stiff about these! I started to wonder why and was pleasantly surprised to find out they are made of 98% cotton and 2% spandex.  LOVE!

I haven’t had a pair of blinged out jeans in a while, so I was excited/nervous to see how I felt in these.  The Moscow cut was a little more blingy but I never felt like I had a rhinestone booty.   It was just enough and I loved the pattern!   With the Florence, the studs were just enough for interest but never annoying. Perfect with heels for a night out.   Tru Luxe really does live up to its promises of “tasteful bling” and the “right mix of comfort and stretch.”

While I will have to get my pairs hemmed, I can’t wait to wear them as a staple of my fall/winter wardrobe!

And now to announce the fun stuff::: GIVEAWAY WINNER IS…..

GIVEAWAY: Tru Luxe Jeans

I’m so excited to share with you that I’m doing my first EVER official blog giveaway! And guys, this is seriously fun!   Here we go, I’ll be giving away a pair of:

Tru Luxe Jeans

Tru Luxe offers bling on jeans without being over priced and tacky! With shine just on the back pockets, they’ve mastered “tasteful bling”.  They offer four different cuts: straight leg, boot leg, skinny leg, and cropped available in light to dark washes, including grey and black!  They also have a black corduroy pair that would be perfect for fall! (I especially love the Sedona and Vancouver styles.) All constructed to be just the right mix of comfort and stretch!  Also, with sizes ranging from 2-18, Tru Luxe Jeans is bridging the gap with a crossover Missy fit.  None of this “moms jeans” and “daughters jeans” nonsense here!

Recently featured in WWD, Tru Luxe Jeans is a line that marries impeccable fit with tasteful embellishments. They were a breakaway favorite at this years Magic Las Vegas Trade Show. “Every customer and onlooker that approached our booth raved about the bling”, says Sam Klapholz managing partner of Sharon Young Inc who produces the line. Tru Luxe Jeans, which launched in Spring 2011, has their eye on the customer with a line of edgy and modern Missy jeans for women who love to sparkle.  Their denim is artfully designed to satisfy every palate. With recent editorial credits that include Upscale Magazine and  Women’s Wear Daily, writers are taking note.

“To us it’s an attitude not an age and that’s exactly what Tru Luxe is an excellent-fitting jean in nice washes with good designs that retails under $100”, says Jeff Glick CEO of Glicks who was interviewed by WWD.
