Outfit of the Day: Pattern Mixing

I’m not great at pattern mixing. But I gave it a good try.  Stripes and dots in a monochromatic color scheme make it easy to mix patterns with out being over the top.

Dress: Target (many years ago)

Dotted Tee: Old Navy

Boots: Chinese Laundry

Necklace: Forever 21

Watch: Betsey Johnson

Don’t forget its the last day to enter the “grown up bow” giveaway!

2012 Fashion Resolution #1

The first month of 2012 is almost over and I’m just getting started on my resolutions! My first fashion resolution is….

shoes

to wear heels/wedges/shoes with height at least one to two days a week.

Why you ask? Because for 2 years all I wore every day was heels to work.  Then, I got a job where I’m on my feet most of the day and heels weren’t practical.

Though that was the reality, it doesn’t mean I don’t still LOVE my heels! I look at them longingly wishing I had an occasion to wear them.

No MORE!

I will make an occasion to wear them…whenever, wherever.  I don’t believe that heels are just for special occasions.  This new resolution starts this week! Every month I’ll do a recap of the heels that I wore during the month!  Cheers to starting a new challenge!

Winter Wedding Inspiration

I’ve got winter wedding reception to attend this Friday! Whoo hoo! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Z!  I’m about 90% of what I’m gonna wear (black and gold), how to do my hair (long waves, maybe bows) , and how to do my makeup (red lips and winged eyeliner).  Here’s what’s inspired me!

A Christmas Vest and An Ugly Face

I’ve decided to enter an IFB (independent fashion bloggers) Challenge for the first time ever! This weeks theme: Holiday Party

And since we had our 8th, yes 8th, annual Christmas party this past weekend, now is the perfect time to share.   The party attire is usually a cocktail, but this year we opted for something way more fun!  An ugly sweater party.  I pulled out all the stops!  Here’s the result!

I think after adding ALL the touches it turned into tacky cuteness!

Tee: Target

Vest: Borrowed

Skirt: Forever 21

Necklace/Earrings: Borrowed

Headband: DIY with Christmas ribbon

Socks: Target

Boots: Target

Bonus: One of my favorite Christmas Decorations in our house!

P.S.

I think this should be our Christmas Card!

Have you seen “ugly face“? That’s where we got the inspiration! It makes me laugh hysterically EVERY time!

Quick Style Guide: Chic Jackets

Cooler weather is finally here and that means jackets are finally needed. What says more about your outfit than the topper.  A jacket is one of the easiest ways to be chic with little to no effort.  Meaning if you’re running to the grocery store, to pick up the kids, or just a bunch of errands, you’re probably not going to take off your jacket/coat.  Throw on one that’s sassy enough and you’re done.  Wear it with whatever, no one will notice cause your jacket is so cute!

So drop the North Face, the Adidas and the puffer and let’s find so chic ones!

Lighter Weight Jackets

I prefer alot of light weight jackets because it doesn’t get really frigid here.  Thus, jersey/knit jackets are some of my faves!

I actually own this blue one on the right and wear it all the time. It is so easy to throw on and look instantly put together! No assembly required!

(all jackets are from Forever 21)

Coats

(all coats are from Lulus)

Can you see a theme here?

Choose a vibrant color.

Try a print. (animal, plaid, stripes, houndstooth)

Pick something that’s got detailing.  (double breasted, outside pockets, nipped in at the waist, piping)

Choose fun buttons. (latches, large circles, square, or big gold ones)

See how easy it is to throw on a cute jacket and look great?  What does your winter jacket/coat look like?

And just for fun….check out this awesome cape that P.S. I Made This actually MADE!

This is on my blog to do list, hopefully you’ll be seeing it soon!  Here’s the link!
