Love My Links: Hair, Shoes, Clothes…It’s all I need

Here are some of my favorite links from this week!

Lauren Conrad’s “Chelsea Lately” Messy Braid-You won’t believe how easy this really is.  It is my hair style TODAY!!  The braid turned out so chic.

What I Wore’s “You’ll Never Guess Where I Got These”-People seemed shocked you can get cute shoes at Payless.  They need to pull their heads out of their butts. The orange pair is to die for!  Maybe for Texas Style Council?

Glamour’s “Jason Wu for Target”- It launches Feb. 5th and I plan to be at the doors early! I’m thinking it won’t be quite as big as Missoni, since it is not as well published on tv and since it is not such a huge collection.  At the least, that pleated skirt has my name on it.

Enjoy all this prettiness and I hope you all have a great weekend loves!!

All photos are from their articles.

Also….

Congratulations to Sherry, Frances, and Malvina!

They all won in the grown up bow giveaway.  Ladies, please email me (fierce_glamour(at)yahoo (dot) com) with your info.

Wanted: The Perfect Purse

The worst has happened.  My purse is dying.  It is on its last breath.  The strap is almost to threads and the zipper won’t work.  I’ve carried it for a whole year.  For my purses, that’s like 12 years.  But now, I want a new one.  I’ve wanted a new one for quite a while, but I’m having the hardest time finding the perfect one!  Why? Because I’ve become a purse snob.  Not a brand snob, a requirement snob.  If it doesn’t have everything I want, it is OUT!

It’s not that I want much, just a few things:

  • A Crossbody design
  • An adjustable strap
  • A fun or neutral color
  • Subtle hardware (no bright gold or silver)
  • A classic/timeless look

and the most important part….the perfect size.

I don’t have a measurement, but can eye the size.  My current (pathetic) purse is a great size, but it needs to be just a tad bigger.

Think about it.  A woman’s purse is a REALLY important thing.  You take it everywhere, it holds some of the most important things you need, and if you lost it, you wouldn’t know what to do.  It can’t be to big or you’ll stuff it with things and it gets to heavy.  If it is too little, you can’t fit all your necessities.  It’s gotta be just the right thing.

I’m willing to spend some money on it.  My max is $150.  I plan to carry this thing for a LONG time.  Thus, if I pay some money for it, it better last.  I think that’s why I’m having such a hard time.  Wish me luck!

What are your requirements for the perfect purse?

Outfit of the Day: Pattern Mixing

I’m not great at pattern mixing. But I gave it a good try.  Stripes and dots in a monochromatic color scheme make it easy to mix patterns with out being over the top.

Dress: Target (many years ago)

Dotted Tee: Old Navy

Boots: Chinese Laundry

Necklace: Forever 21

Watch: Betsey Johnson

Don’t forget its the last day to enter the “grown up bow” giveaway!

DIY Magazine: Spring 2012 Issue

Guys, I’m in love.  In love with a magazine.  Have you heard of DIY Magazine?  It’s part of Better Homes & Garden so of course it’s fabulous.  The new spring issue has me drooling and itching to get DIYing.

These are a few of my favorite things…“Tilt A Whirl”  Painting Glass Vases…page 12/13

“Concrete Jungle”  Cement Block Bench….page 30-34 (picture from pg. 32)

This bench makes me want a backyard NOW!  How many people would have a cement block bench…and NO ONE would ever try to steal it!

“DIY Get the Look Style Guide”  ….pages 56 & 57

Following a front porch makeover, this front porch style guide is adorable.  I would mix the pink door with the funky oval numbers, the flower rug, and the star light pendant.

………………………………..

The “Hip Hues” article and spread has me obsessing.  It is by far the most coveted part of the issue.  It takes us through designer Kat Schintzius’ amazing house!!! Her whole house is beautiful, these are just a few of my faves.

Pages 80 thru 87…

1) how fabulous is the fabric for the shade!! 2) I love the retro feel of this WHOLE kitchen. WANT, WANT, WANT!  pg. 84

The Shams, the side table, the lamp, the pattern mixing.  Excuse me while I faint!

Pg. 86

I want a retro bathroom! I love how she made it modern with fun and funky colors and prints.  Pg. 87

Photos were taken with my camera OF the purchased magazine.

The Grown Up Bow, a DIY

Remember last week’s wedding wear inspiration?  The wedding has come and gone. And of course, leave it to me to STILL not have pictures on the blog for it…the What I Wore post is coming soon….But in preparation for the wedding, I made an accessory to go with my dress. A bow.  Yes, a bow.

This isn’t your daughters bow.

It’s the grown up bow.

No, ruffles, no buttons, no frills. Simple and sophisticated.

I was inspired by this picture from pinterest.  I love how loose, flowy, and sexy her hair is but its still dressy with the bow.  I didn’t have time to traipse all over God’s green earth to find a bow. So, I made one.

I ran to hobby lobby to buy flat alligator hair clips, and 1 1/2″ thick black satin ribbon. (total cost was around $4, my ribbon was 50% off) I also used a glue gun.

  • First, I cut one long strand of ribbon.  I guesstimate about 12 inches.
  • From here, form the ribbon into a loop.  Adjust the loop smaller or bigger, depending on how far you want it too stick out on the sides of your head. Then hot glue the ends of your loop together.
  • Find the middle of your loop and pinch this together with the ends.  You now have a “bow” form.   Glue this together.
  • Cut another piece of ribbon about 3″ long.  Center your “bow” in the middle of the 3″ ribbon.  Fold the sides of the 3″ section over and glue.  Voila! you have made the bow!
  • Center your bow on the alligator clip and hot glue. DONE!

Your end result will look like above!  I have no source for this tutorial since I just looked at the other picture and free-handed crafted it.

Here’s what it looked like when I was all fixed up. It had JUST the effect I wanted! Sophisticated, but sexy.  and yes, I took a picture of the picture on my camera…..

Good news for you…

I’ve decided to give 3 of these beautiful bows AWAY!!

Just leave a comment below, on my facebook page, or on twitter telling me how you would wear it.  There will be one winner from each.  Giveaway ends January 31st! GOOD LUCK!
