Month Long Mission: No Dye July

Last year, I did a month long feature called No Buy July! Do you remember?  I attempted to not buy anything fashion and beauty related for an entire month.  I fell off the wagon once or twice but it wasn’t a total waste of a mission.

Well this year, even though its 7 days into the month, I’ve decided to start a new month long project!

Welcome to

NO DYE JULY

Ask yourself, how long has it been since you dyed/highlighted your hair?  Mine happened to be about 2 weeks ago (before my wedding reception).

Ask yourself another question, what is your natural hair color?  I think mine is a dark blonde/light brown color?  From when my roots grow, its pretty icky, but I wonder what it looks like all grown out.

If you’re like me, you’ve gotten caught up in the world of chemically altering your hair, whether through chemical straightening, dyeing or highlighting.  Every few months, I have to do something with my hair to cover up my roots and it’s a never ending cycle.

no dye july I feel like I’ve gotten sucked in and can’t get out.  Well now I want to stop!! I watched a bestie of mine grow out her highlight/dye and end up with gorgeous healthy hair that was shiny and full.  I want this!! I’ve attempted this before, but it didn’t last.  Now, I’m determined to make it work! But, I’m going to need your help!  You can join me in my challenge, or even just encourage!

 No Dye July rules:

1)     Do not put any kind of chemical treatment on your hair that alters its color. (Dye, highlight, bleach, etc.)

2)     Encourage others to resist the temptation of dye!

3)     Use color safe shampoos to keep the current color and enhance the natural color!

4)     Find out your natural hair color!!

My own personal goal is to grow out my color. For July I don’t plan to take dye to my hair, but after it grows out so long there will be a definite line of where the dye and natural hair are. Right now my hair is a sandy blonde color but considerably shades lighter than my natural color.   Thus, my plan is to dye from the noticeable line down in a shade that is as close to my natural color as possible.  We’ll talk about this more in-depth later.

So what do you say?  Are you in for No Dye July?  You’ve already made it a week!

If you want to be included in this challenge, email me at fierce_glamour@yahoo.com with your name.  I will be making a list of all who join!  Hopefully we can keep each other on track!

Good Luck!! I grew out my highlights I had last year (honey, chocolate like color) because it was destorying my hair. It was tough but doable!

Though I haven’t colored my hair, I am on a mission to not relax my hair for the entire summer( I usually touch up every two months). Last time I did was the beginning of last month so I’m trying to make it at least until my birthday! :)
